Branches frequently branch themselves. They have forks. By avoiding a specific branch you also avoid all of its resulting forks. Some branches are connected together. Sometimes these connections are broke. At pivotal points along a a timeline divergent worldlines are possible as splits occur.

After a juncture there are frequently corresponding parallel events in branching parallel universes (parallel timelines). Alternate events will sometimes be encountered in dreams but much more often in the imagination as events in scenarios and as events on paths not taken.
